This is a unique opportunity to own a privately commissioned Native American resin Ball Jointed Doll (BJD) sculpted by the multi award-winning doll artist, Judy Porter. Judy also did the face-up and signed and hand numbered each one. This doll is a limited edition of 20 with the majority of dolls unavailable to the public. The doll is dressed in period-typical minister's clothing: white long-sleeved shirt, black vest, black frock coat, black breeches, socks, shoes with large buckle, and a white minister's collar. Also included in this set is an information sheet on Samson Occom. This doll was commissioned for the 250th anniversary of Occom's mission trip to England. It is meant to raise awareness for him and the Brothertown (also known as Brotherton) Tribe which he helped to found. Samson Occom (1723-1792) was a famous Mohegan, later Brothertown Indian, who, among other things, wrote the first Native American autobiography, was the first Presbyterian to publish a hymnal (1774) in North America, the first Native minister to travel to England, and was very much responsible for the founding of Dartmouth College. Note: This doll measures about 11" from the bottom of his shoes to the top of his hair. Without hair and shoes he would be closer to 10 1/2".
